ANZAC Day and other commemorative events
Council resolved at the October meeting that the Shire of Victoria
Plains will now take on the primary role for the ANZAC Day event
and other Memorial events within the Shire.
Community groups throughout the Shire will be contacted shortly
and invited to nominate representatives to sit on the Council
ANZAC Day Committee.
The first meeting of the expanded ANZAC Day Committee will be
held in January 2017.
Revised Shire Logo adopted
A revised Shire logo was adopted by Council at the October
meeting. The new logo will be gradually introduced on stationery
and signage once the current stocks are exhausted.
John Longman recognised
Council congratulated Mr John Longman on his addition to the
first NACC honour roll. The ACEO will write to Mr Longman
passing on formal congratulations from Council.
Bolgart Industrial Blocks
Council approved the sizing of the blocks and resolved to
proceed with planning approval for industrial blocks in Bolgart.
Ward Review
Following receipt of a request from the Local Government
Advisory Board, Council resolved to commence a review of
wards. The ACEO is to prepare a submission paper, give public
notice of the review and advertise for public submissions. The
review is to be completed by 31

March 2017.
Installation of community seat – Calingiri & Bolgart
The ACEO confirmed that he was working closely with the
Community Development Officer and the Works & Services
Manager to discuss cost, type, and location of the community
seats. A further update will be provided at the November
meeting.
Parking on footpaths within Calingiri town site
The ACEO confirmed that the Local Laws covering parking were
old but still valid, and that the Works & Services Manager would
review individual cases in conjunction with the Ranger.
The ACEO also mentioned that the SOVP Local Laws are going
to be reviewed during this financial year.
Alteration of footpath plan – Calingiri
The WSM advised that the footpath plan would be reviewed at
the midyear budget review (to ascertain whether changes can be
made to the existing plan).
Christmas/New Year closure
The Shire depot and administration office will close on 2.00pm

December, reopening Tuesday 3

January 2017.
The April meeting of Council will be held in Bolgart and the
September meeting will be held in the West Ward (location to be
determined).
Mogumber Reserve
Council voted against a proposal for the appointment of an
independent consultant to review the activities and management
of the Mogumber Reserve.
Shire of Victoria Plains War Memorial
Following receipt of a recommendation from the Shire War
Memorial Warden, Council resolved to consider the resolution
from 2006 with regards to relocation of the mosaic tiles from the
current location to a more suitable location. The ACEO will initiate
consultation with community and Council has indicated an
interest in the establishment of a “peace park” or similar concept
in the current Progress Park as a suitable location for the tiles.
