Calingiri Primary School Newsletter
Calingiri PS has begun another new and exciting school year. Everyone came back from a
safe and relaxing summer holiday but we are now well into the challenging year ahead.
After the holidays students were happy and eager to return to school and staff had been
busy preparing classrooms and teaching programs.
The Junior Room with Mrs Brennan have a ‘Fairy Tales’ theme in their classroom. There
was even a princess and a castle in the room! Fairy tales are always a student favourite
and sure to stimulate interest and curiosity. Mrs Brennan has many fascinating tasks
ahead for her students.
Miss Longford is well prepared for another exciting term in the senior room. Their theme
is ‘Farming’. This is a topic that the students will be very familiar with but there will be
many opportunities to extend their knowledge and apply it to other countries and
situations. Four new kindy students have also started their primary school journeys at
Calingiri PS with Mrs Woods and we warmly welcome them.
Last week we completed swimming lessons with all students attending and improving
their swimming skills even though the weather was unseasonal for many of the lessons.
We’re also preparing for our swimming carnival on 3
rd
March.
Another big event is the school camp on the 3
rd
April. Every second year the Year 5 and 6
students attend camp. Many educational and interesting activities have been planned for
this year’s camp on Rottnest Island.
This year is the centenary year of the school. Plans are well underway to make this a
memorable day on the 14
th
October. Keep up to date with what’s happening by joining us
