HEAVY VEHICLES
The Shire would like to advise all land owners that they have an obligation to the Shire to abide by
the law regarding the use of gravel roads in wet weather. There is to be no access to gravel roads
when it is visibly wet. Those who are found to breach these laws, will be liable for prosecution by
MRWA under the heavy vehicle regulations.
The costs associated with repairing damages roads are quite significant! If
this practice continues, Council will need to consider increasing rates to
cover repair costs.
The Shire is also looking at having a text type system that will alert owners
and contractors of closed roads within the Shire of Victoria Plains.
If any one sees heavy vehicles on roads that they should not be on, please
inform the Shire or Main Roads Heavy Division. All reports will be kept
confidential.
