CHANGE TO HOURS and LOCATION
Please note that the Polling Booth at New Norcia will now be located at the
NEW NORCIA INSTITUTE STUDY HALL – not at the Education Centre where voting has been held
previously.
Additionally, the polling place at Mogumber Town Hall will now only be open from 8.00am to 12.00 noon.
NEWS FROM THE CHAMBERS
What this means is that from October 2017, the Shire will still have 4 wards however the
boundaries will be amended slightly. The ward boundaries will be determined at the
March meeting of Council.
Additionally, the number of Councillors will reduce from the current 9 Councillors to 7
Councillors.
Local Planning Scheme No 5 Amendment No 1 – Scheme Conversion
Council adopted the proposed Amendment No 1 to Local Planning Scheme No 5 to align
the scheme with the deemed provisions contained in Schedule 2 of the Planning and
Development (Local Planning Scheme) Regulations 2015. Please contact the Shire if
you would like to view these.

Regulation 17 Review
The Shire will be engaging
Moore Stephens
to undertake a review project to assist the Shire in respect to
the CEO’s obligations under Regulation 17 of the Local Government (Audit) Regulations 1996.
What this means is that
Moore Stephens
will examine the Shires procedures and documentation to ensure
we comply with legislative compliance and risk management.
A final report will be presented to the CEO, Councillors and the SOVP Audit Committee.
