A NOTICE FROM OUR SHIRE PRESIDENT
Residents of Victoria Plains will be aware of the movement of our immediate past CEO,
Harry Hawkins to the Shire of Sandstone at his request. His contract was due to expire
31st of December this year but he asked Council for early release to enable him to take
up this new position. Council agreed. A vote of thanks to him for his long years of
service was carried with acclimation and, on your behalf, Council wished him well in
his, and wife Dawns, future.
Some of the highlights of his term at Victoria Plains firstly as Finance Manager and then
as CEO include :-

major improvement in the Shires financial stability and security by way of
reserves going from near zero to $1m while still upgrading and modernising our
machinery and vehicle fleet
-
completion of the sealing of the Lime Sand route
-
provision of emergency and stock water supplies in each of our
"towns" ( Piawaning Desalination plant is nearing completion) to effectively
drought proof the Shire
-
major improvement to the Calingiri sports pavilion and oval plus new netball/
tennis court
-
purchase of a new community car to assist residents in need of transport for
appointments
As your Shire President I say "Thank You Harry " for your long and dedicated Service to
our Shire and wish you success, fulfilment, good health and peace for the future.
The process of finding a new CEO is well underway and in the meantime Ian Graham
will be Acting CEO. He would welcome your interaction on issues relating to Shire
business.
