From the Works Department
Employment Opportunities
The Shire of Victoria Plains is currently seeking to recruit two positions within the Works Depot located in
Calingiri.
Those interested will need to demonstrate a good understanding and knowledge of the use of plant and
machinery within the operations of maintenance and construction of roads, drainage and general
maintenance of assets within the Shires’ town, roads and drainage infrastructure. You will also need to
possess a HR class driver’s licence.
The two positions available are:
1 Leading hand – Operations
2 General Hand – Plant Operator

Road Verges
The staff at the Works Department have been trying to maintain the streets and verges to a high standard
and have now introduced monthly street sweeping. It is intended that the towns of Bolgart, Calingiri and
Yerecoin, and a number of other locations will be scheduled on regular days. We will advise of the correct
day for your location in the coming newsletters.
In the mean time, residents are asked respectfully to ensure they put leaves and other windblown materials
in their bins.
Road Works
Several sealing projects have been completed over the past few weeks. Some of this has resulted in
excess stones on the roads so please slow down when driving on these roads.
Now that there has been some rain, grading of the roads will commence, starting with shoulder grading on
Yerecoin South East Road. Contract operators will also be out and about so please look out for them, be
courteous and slow down.
