Ward & Representation Review
The Shire received 97 responses to the request for
comments on the Ward & Representation review.
Preferences and comments will be presented to Council at
the February 2017 meeting.
Interested ratepayers and community members are
encouraged to attend the February meeting to hear
Council’s response.
Shire of Victoria Plains War Memorial - Relocation of
Mosaic Tiles
Residents of Calingiri will notice that the mosaic tiles have
been removed from their previous location at the War
Memorial.
Plans are being finalised about the new location for the
mosaic tiles...watch this space!
Gravel - Price Paid to Landowners
An item relating to the price paid to landowners for
purchase of gravel was laid on the table and will be
discussed at the meeting in February following the DCEO
obtaining information on prices paid by neighbouring Shires.
Local Laws Review 2016/2017
A review of the Shires local laws has recently been
conducted with the Review, including recommended
actions, being accepted by Council.
A workshop will be held with the Consultant for Councillors
to discuss proposed amendments to the Local Laws, prior
to the February meeting of Council.
Urgent Business
A number of urgent matters were raised as follows:
Mogumber Reserve
Cr Kelly displayed photographs taken of the Mogumber
Rodeo arena and a tree on the Mogumber Reserve dated
19 December 2016 of:
Fencing stays within proximity of trees
A tree with disturbed ground underneath it and
purported damage to tree trunk
The CEO is to investigate.
Water issues - Yerecoin & Piawaning
Council requested that the CEO approach the Water
Corporation with regards to ongoing difficulties in relation to
the water supply in Yerecoin and Piawaning.
The CEO & Paul Spowart (Building Maintenance) met with
Rob Brooks, Operations Manager Mid West Region Water
Corporation.
Plant hydrant location in Yerecoin, there are 2 hydrants and
the stand pipe for fire fighting purposes, no more upgrades
are scheduled.
Piawaning
- New pipes are being replaced due to water
leakages, no more upgrades are scheduled.
Calingiri
- CEO discussed the water pressure in Calingiri
when trucks come in and remove water. It has been agreed
that the water will now be pumped from Moora, good news
for the residents in Calingiri.
The CEO will request that a Water Corporation
representative attend the February meeting of Council to
provide information.
Mogumber power poles
The CEO is to contact Western Power in relation to
replacing the wooden pole tops on the Mogumber three
phase power line/s as a matter of urgency due to continued
pole top fires.
