APRIL COUNCIL MEETING

Mogumber Reserve Fire

A fire was recently caused in the reserve by a Pole top fire. Due to very prompt action by local

volunteers the area effected was not large. However the fire did spread across the river and

loaders had to be used sparingly to renew and expand breaks. The area was patrolled by

volunteers for four days and nights to control any flare ups. The Shire and locals thank you.

We must accept that containment of any emergency fire is up to the suitably trained Control Officer

on the site at the time and although later de-briefing can be valuable, no criticism of their action and

decisions on the ground at the time, under the conditions as they see it ,can be accepted. The

Shire people thank you for your unselfish dedication.

Please be advised that due to seasonal conditions,

burning permits will not be required, effective from
