The Shire Victoria Plains is in the central wheatbelt of Western Australia 153 kms north-east of Perth and just 75 minutes from Ellenbrook. The Opportunity


The Shire of Victoria Plains is seeking to appoint a suitably qualified and experienced Emergency Management Officer to join its vibrant team of enthusiastic staff in Calingiri. Key duties are:

• Responsible to maintain and access the CCTV.
• Work closely with internal departments at the Shire and key stakeholder groups to ensure the emergency management and fire prevention functions are undertaken     effectively and efficiently.
• In collaboration, coordinate the review and implementation of all Shire’s Emergency Management Plans and assist with the response/recovery efforts outlined within.
• Apply risk based strategic planning that maximises community and environmental safety during fire and other emergencies.
• Prepare verbal and written reports and present to a range of key internal / external stakeholder groups.

The role has an anticipated commencement immediately start.

Selection Criteria

  1. Experience with Local Emergency Management Arrangements (LEMA) in accordance with the relevant legislation.
  2. Understanding of the Local Government Liaison Officer role.
  3. Experience with bushfire mitigation.
  4. Demonstrated ability to proactively engage with the community to increase awareness of emergency risk.
  5. Excellent time management skills, with the ability to function effectively to meet short deadlines in a pressured environment and work autonomously
