Dog Exercise and Prohibited Areas

In accordance with the Dog Act 1976, prohibited and exercise areas were specified by resolution of Council on 20 September 2017.

Areas prohibited absolutely

In accordance with the Dog Act 1976 section 32(2B), Council has specified the following areas where dogs are prohibited absolutely –

Reserve 16738, Calingiri Cemetery – whole of reserve;
Reserve 47876, Bolgart Cemetery – Memorial Garden fenced portion of reserve;
land which has been set aside as a children’s playground;
a public area being used for sporting or other activities, during the times of such use;
a public building unless permitted by a sign; and
all premises from which a food business is conducted or food is being transported, prepared or served.

This prohibition does not apply to assistance animals as defined in the Disability Discrimination Act 1992 (Commonwealth) section 9(2

In accordance with the Dog Act 1976 section 32(3A), Council has specified the following dog exercise areas –

Reserve 26577, (The part of Lot 50, of Deposited Plan 65760) Calingiri Sports Ground - football oval playing surface only;
Reserve 20121, Calingiri Sports Ground – grassed and parking areas;
Reserve 17955, Bolgart Sports Oval – cleared playing and parking areas;
Reserve 31411, Yerecoin Sports Ground – cleared playing and parking areas;
Reserve 18203, Piawaning Sports Ground – cleared playing and parking areas;
Reserve 8588, Mogumber Sports Oval – cleared playing and parking areas.
