The Shire of Victoria Plains would like to acknowledge the significant contribution of Shire President Cr Pauline Bantock, who has today announced her resignation from Council following 11 years of dedicated service to the Victoria Plains community.
Cr Bantock will step down from Council effective 6 November 2026, bringing to a close more than a decade of service as an elected member, including the past seven years as Shire President.
Unfortunately, Cr Bantock’s resignation follows a challenging period managing a rare neurological condition, which has made it increasingly difficult to balance the demands of Council, her personal life and business commitments. While the decision was not an easy one, stepping away will give her more time to focus on her recovery and wellbeing, and she remains optimistic about the future and returning to good health.
Shire of Victoria Plains Chief Executive Officer Sean Fletcher thanked Cr Bantock for her longstanding commitment to the Shire and the leadership she had provided during her time as President.
“Pauline has given an extraordinary amount to the Shire of Victoria Plains over the past 11 years. Her commitment to our communities and her leadership as Shire President have made a lasting contribution that will be felt for years to come,” Mr Fletcher said.
“On behalf of the Shire, our staff and the wider Victoria Plains community, I want to sincerely thank Pauline for her service and wish her the very best as she takes this time to focus on her health, family and the next chapter.”
Reflecting on her time with the Shire, Cr Bantock described serving the Victoria Plains community as an “enormous privilege” and said being entrusted with the role of Shire President for seven years was something she would “always be incredibly proud of”.
Mr Fletcher added, “One of Pauline’s great strengths has always been her genuine connection with the community. While her time on Council is coming to an end, I know her passion for Victoria Plains and its people will continue.”
Following Cr Bantock’s departure, Deputy Shire President Suzanne Woods will fulfil the role of Acting Shire President until Council elects a new President.
The Shire will provide further information regarding the election of the new Shire President in due course.
